30th December - 3rd race at Drayton School, Banbury


Team Kennet were in action this weekend in the third of five Oxford Mail Cross Country League matches at the Drayton School in Banbury.


Under 11 girl Rhea Walter had the best individual performance of the day with an superb 3rd place, keeping her in second overall in the league, Georgina Bradford kept up her performance with 7th and Carli Nicholls 30th.


The under 11 boys also produced great individuals with Tom Uden 6th, Andrew Doublard 7th and Jamie Killner 11th.


Katie Pontin was 4th in the under 15 girls race and was 9th combined with the under 13 girls, with Suzi Cookson 21st, Katie Herbert was 16th in the under 13 girls making up the team for 6th place and keeping them in 5th overall, Emma Seymour was 18th, Amber Whetter 20th and Katie Metalli 25th making up the B team in 14th.


The under 15/17 mens race saw a much weakened team, Tom Milburn was first home for the club in 7th (3rd u17) with Michael Randall 8th and well back down the field Aston Nicholls bringing home the A team in 29th and third team, this has put the A team into 2nd overall. The B team was George Bumpuss 32nd, Matt Price 38th and Ross Whetter 42nd for 15th Team.

  The senior Ladies were leading the top division and needed a good result from reigning champions Headington, despite Rachel Elliott having a operation just two weeks ago, she managed a brilliant 9th place, with ever consistant Sue Francis 14th and Helen Preedy 22nd, this put the team 3rd on the day, and slipped to second overall by only 1 point. Rose Metalli led the B team home in 65th with new comer Natalie Thomas 72nd and Margaret Smith 82nd for 15th team in Division 2. The individual standings so far are Rachel is 3rd overall, Sue is 3rd Vet 35 and Margaret Smith 4th Vet 50.


The mens saw another 200 plus field, with the A team 4th in Division 2 and also on the day. Mark Shepherd led the team home in 15th, Tom Munt 24th, Iain Adams 74th, Nick Weston 87th, Dick Kearn 97th, James Moorcroft 122nd and Dave Mitcham 152nd. The B team were led home by Mark Pontin 173rd, Colin Price 192nd, Roger Davis 203rd for 17th in Division 3
